Windows 8 comes basically in three editions: RT, Pro and the base one, simply called Windows 8. Every single one of these has all of the pre-installed apps, Internet Explorer 10, Windows Update, Windows Firewall and Windows Defender. But beyond apps, there are several differences between them.
The first one, the RT (don’t confuse it with RTM) is exclusively installed on tablets. It features the Modern UI, but the desktop doesn’t exist and can’t run programs built for Windows running on a computer. Though it can install applications distributed by the Windows Store, something like the iOS App Store. It has support for BitLocker to protect your data and has special versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote made specifically for tablets.
Next one, Windows 8. Maybe you think that’s the OS name, but it’s also the name of the basic edition. It features both the Modern UI and desktop, and can run programs built originally for Windows on computers. Though, unlike the RT, it doesn’t have BitLocker supports.
Windows 8 Pro. Windows 8 Pro has the same capabilities as the basic edition, but offers BitLocker support, Remote Desktop Connection and can connect easily to corporate or school networks with Domain join.

Finally, let’s talk about Windows 8 Pro Pack. Essentially, is an upgrade for Windows 8, which enables all of the Windows 8 Pro functionalities and Media Center. If you’re running the Pro one, then until the 31-01-2013 you can get the Media Center Pack for free, unlocking Windows Media Center through this link.
For EU, Swiss and Croatian resident, there is also another one, called “N”, which creates three another editions, Windows 8 N, Windows 8 Pro N and Windows 8 Pro Pack N. They have the same capabilities as the original ones, but doesn’t have built-in apps like Windows Media Player, Music and Video, so the user will need to install them manually from Microsoft or use third-party software.

Infine, c’è anche una edizione speciale, chiamata Windows 8 Pro Pack. Arriva come un aggiornamento per Windows 8 che sblocca tutte le funzionalità del Pro, ma con in più Windows Media Center.
